This year, the annual Brands2Life Global Summit was due to take place in Munich, marking a move from London for the first time in five years. Faced with the coronavirus pandemic, we decided instead to come together in the virtual world to share best practices, update on client activity and collaborate on a number of new and existing projects.

Split over two days to accommodate partners across all time zones, representatives from 17 agencies in the network set up their webcams for the Summit (with the added bonus of a custom video background to help solidify the illusion of being in the same room). Topics covered included the growing trend to move towards more and more digital content-based projects, as well as the great joint success of the Brands2Life Global Network’s international pro bono campaign to support the Tree Nation project.

Day 2 was dedicated to continuing our development of powerful international marketing strategies, focusing in particular on how the Network can generate added value across borders while strengthening local market positions. We used interactive polls to convert discussions into actions for the year ahead and to ensure a clear vision for all.

The global coronavirus pandemic, the disruption it has caused and how businesses around the world are adapting to it was, of course, another hot topic of conversation. We heard from partners in the Americas, EMEA and APAC how the current situation has affected their local media landscape and the businesses of their clients and partners. With all agencies having switched to remote working practices, the Summit also offered best practices for remote working, including the best collaboration tools, video conferencing software, and even cultural differences in webcam etiquette!

As in every industry, we are monitoring the current situation very closely. Against a background of uncertainty, we’re leveraging the power of the network to stay agile, drive innovation and adapt to change on a daily basis. We’d like to thank our fellow partners for standing with us during these complex times keeping the exchange of thoughts, ideas and innovation alive!
